Jenny Giraffe and the Streetcar Party

Jenny Giraffe is famous with all of her French Quarter neighbors. A respected painter among the artists of New Orleans, she is now just a part of the unusual culture of this downtown area. Now Jenny is going on a trip to new neighborhoods she has never visited before. She has been invited to a birthday party for her friend T-Boy. And of all places . . . the party is on a streetcar!

Jenny takes a ride on the historical St. Charles Avenue streetcar. Decorated with ribbons and balloons and filled with happy children, the streetcar makes its way through parts of town Jenny has never seen before. Striking out into the American and University sections, she learns about the history of the city outside of her regular French Quarter environs. Plus, Jenny discovers the zoo where she suspects she can find her mother!

Jenny Giraffe and the Streetcar Party is a clever introduction to the history of the Garden District, Uptown New Orleans, and the St. Charles Streetcar Line. It helps children appreciate the unique scenery of the city. Meanwhile, it encourages them to recognize similar attractions in their own neighborhoods.
