Sea Turtle Pendant
This is a hand-sculpted piece of jewelry created by using Precious Metal Clay (PMC) and dental tools. I use no molds in the creation of my jewelry pieces so they are, therefore, one of a kind. The Silver in the piece is either shiny or blackened using an oxidizer called black max. All gold-colored metal in my pieces is Aura 22 (a gold PMC slip) that is painted 12 layers thick onto the already kiln fired silver piece, allowed to dry for 24 hours, then torch-fired at night until the item glows a certain shade of red-orange. The piece is then allowed to cool and is hand-burnished to make all the metals used shiny once more. There is no cleaning required for any of my pieces. The stones in this particular piece were hand mined and polished by me as well. The main stone is Aquamarine that comes from a mine located in Lagrange, GA and the eyes of the Turtle are deep blue Sapphires that come out of Franklyn, NC.
